Many of us today feel absolutely helpless towards what we can actually do to save humanity from the incredibly destructive path it’s on. There is no easy answer to this complex dilemma, with a variety of opinions and proposals as to the best solutions to the problems. Many often look towards voting at the Federal level as the best solution to change things. While this might make small changes, most of the time it brings about no change at all, as the Federal government has become incredibly corrupt and bought out. This is just the reality we live in right now. Despite all this, there is plenty of hope on the horizon; it just requires a new perspective.
What many people don’t realize is that local, city, and state level governments have power as well and are very much still salvageable if people were to get out and participate in them. This approach is different in that it is decentralized in nature. Instead of one centralized fire, it takes the route of thousands of individual bushfires being started all over the country simultaneously. In many ways, this is a more manageable approach in that people only have to focus on the issues in their own area rather than coordinate a mass movement across the whole country. Not to say a mass movement won’t eventually be needed, but power and leverage can build at local levels which could catapult into something bigger.
Though everyone might not be a major activist, going to the meetings, staying informed, speaking your mind, and simply letting them know you are there is a powerful step towards real action. Many people totally forget about the power that can be manifested in their local communities if they were to simply get out and participate. Not to mention, it is extremely liberating to get out and rattle the cages of those in power. They don’t even see it coming and many in power don’t even realize what they’re doing; as orders are usually funneled down the pipeline and passed because of little to no informed resistance.
There are others already out there doing this. Below is a compilation of four different activists who took matters into their own hands by showing up at their city councils and letting them have it. We all can do this; it just requires the courage to get out of your comfort zone and do it. Imagine the possibilities if just a hundred people from all over the U.S. did this in the next few months. It would send shock waves through the system and most likely spark the courage of many others to do so as well.
This is where real change is very possible, so I encourage everyone to get out there and play your part. We all have a role to play, so it’s up to you to find yours. No one is going to save us but us, so it’s time to get involved and be the change you wish to see in the world. This is how the revolution begins.
