RADIOACTIVE RANT: “AIR IS SAFE TO BREATHE” /sarc/ ~ Rad Chick

EPIC RANT from Popeye of “Down the Rabbit Hole” about 911, the BP Disaster, the use of Depleted Uranium, Fukushima, the West Lake Landfill, and the LA Methane Leak.

This rant was so good and so ON POINT I asked him if I could put it on my channel. For anyone who is discouraged that they face these types of illnesses, issues, and flat-out denials from officials meant to protect us…you are not alone. There was a long legacy before you, which you are now a part of.

Puttin’ on the Writs! National Liberty Alliance Files Mandamus Documents

Home

For those not aware, John Darash and his teams at the ‘National Liberty Alliance’ have been writing and issuing the documentation necessary to free us from the corruption and illegal tyranny of the dark cabal—the imposters posing as our ‘government’.

The “writ mandamus” documents have now been issued, and there are many of them to cover various aspects of the current “illegal” system.

I love this part:

This document is not for interpretation by BAR attorneys; “Laws are made for men of ordinary understanding and should, therefore, be construed by the ordinary rules of common sense. Their meaning is not to be sought for in metaphysical subtleties which may make anything mean everything or nothing at pleasure.” – Thomas Jefferson to William Johnson, 1823 ME 15:450. All respondents took an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution and therefore should understand these documents; if not learn or resign your post.

I’ve discussed this before but if you’re not aware, the ORIGINAL 13th Amendment to the US Constitution—before it was slipped out by the corrupt parties—stated that no one of “nobility” or individuals of title were to be part of the government. That referred at that time to those such as “esquire”, which were barristers, solicitors, lawyers, attorneys at law.

We know why that was intended to be part of the Constitution, and why it was removed. Most of the US government we interact with are lawyers, and they are responsible for drafting up documents, bills and laws that only they can understand and are far too large for our representatives to want to read in full, and they use a language that has an entirely different meaning than we lay people were taught.

They have corrupted the system, and we didn’t realize it. But now we know, and the illegalities of government are being addressed.

They pass laws to control us; we are playing by their rules. We’re taking them down legally—and peacefully, and this just may be our saving grace.

The corrupt courts are being served, and now the Common Law Grand Juries are in place to take the criminals to task—thanks to people like John Darash and his teams who have put years of work into this and seem to have pulled a rabbit out of a hat. I don’t know how they did this in the short time they’ve had. They must eat, sleep and breathe this stuff.

It’s incredible what they have accomplished, and I heartily applaud them for their dedication. The People of the Republic of the United States owe them a debt of gratitude. I trust other countries are following suit.

Legal documents have never been interesting for most of us to read (by design), but I think you’ll find these vastly different from what you might expect. They speak our language. Here’s a sample:

                                              LIBERTY RISING

The purpose of this Mandamus is to expose foreign and domestic tyrants posing as Americans that have infiltrated our government at all levels in a concerted effort to overthrow the fifty governments of the united 40 States by seizing their seat of power our Federal City a/k/a Washington DC. Thereby these tyrants have covertly erected a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific, political operations and through courts of fiction, contrary to the authority by which they claim, Article I Section 8 clauses 17 and 18, prevent the execution of the Law of the Land resulting in the enslaving of the 45 sovereign People of America;

I find this terribly exciting. We’re puttin’ on the writs!

Here is an excerpt from the writ mandamus for “Subversion”.

On June 6, 2015 We the People filed Writ Mandamus concerning subversion revealing Jade Helm, a Trojan-horse to take America, and exposing foreign and domestic tyrants, posing as Americans, who have infiltrated our government at all levels in a concerted effort to overthrow the fifty governments of the united States. These tyrants have seized their seat of power (our Federal City a/k/a Washington DC) and thereby have covertly erected a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific, political operations; through courts of fiction, contrary to the authority by which they claim (Article I Section 8 Clauses 17 and 18), prevent the execution of the Law of the Land resulting in the enslaving of the sovereign People of America;

“Now is the time to pay attention, take a stand and prevent these tyrants from building their dark cities. Become empowered. Read the Writs because we must “educate and inform the whole mass of the people… They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.” Thomas Jefferson; and then join NLA as we take this battle to the courts and our federal city.”

If you can do nothing else, I heartily encourage you to take part in this battle. Take their advice and read the writs. It’s your duty as an American citizen of the Republic, and it’s truly interesting reading. Share them!

Click here to access the mandamus documents. Scroll down the home page until you see the mandamus links, beginning with May 20th. You can then access each PDF separately.

One of our readers is deeply involved in the NLA and shared a link to an upcoming interview segment. Looking forward very much to listening on Saturday.  ~ BP

As You Wish Talk Radio with James Gilliland

Laura says…

James Gilliland interviews my partner and I on his “As You Wish” radio show Saturday night 6/13/15 8pm PST and it is all about what to do and what is being done by National Liberty Alliance. NLA is making huge strides and the fraudulent court system is freaked. The Joint Chiefs of Staff have “The Unified Common Law Grand Jury” mandamus documents on Jade Helm as well. There is one little bit about my Blue Avian experience too. http://bbsradio.com/asyouwishtalkradio

Did the Government Give Industrial Hemp a Pass to Clean Up Radiation in the States?

Christina Sarich
NationofChange / News Analysis
Published: Friday 14 February 2014
Hemp has numerous uses and could replace many crops that require heavy irrigation and pesticides, but the most interesting fact about hemp is that it “eats” radiation.

Activists have been shouting they want an end to GMO foods for more than a decade now, and Cannabis Sattiva L. supporters have been at it for even longer, so why has the US government finally given farmers the right to legally grow industrial hemp, the non-hallucinatory, sister plant of medical marijuana?

It is safe to say that industrialized hemp should have been legalized years ago. With THC levels so low, you would have to smoke more of it than Snoop Dogg to get ‘high’ – and that’s a lot of Cannabis, it is ridiculous that it was classified as a drug at all. It has numerous uses and could replace many crops that require heavy irrigation and pesticides, like cotton, for example. Here’s the most interesting fact though – hemp plants ‘eat’ radiation.

When the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant Reactor 4 accident caused severe radioactive contamination in 1986, families within a 30-kilometer area of the site had to be evacuated. Radioactive contamination was later found at 100 kilometers from the accident site, and Fukushima radiation levels are still to be determined, with the Japanese government planning on dumping their overflowing radiated water tanks into the Pacific as we speak. As with the Chernobyl incident, scientists are finding radioactive emissions and toxic metals–including iodine, cesium-137, strontium-90, and plutonium–concentrated in the soil, plants, and animals of Japan, but also now throughout the United States and all along the West Coast – from Canada to Mexico. Even the EPA has admittedthat any living tissue can be affected by radiation exposure. High levels of thyroid disease and cancer have been reported in Japan, and our ocean is dying by the day. Scientists are also expecting that children born on the US West Coast will suffer a 28% higher incident of hyperthyroidism – a disease that accompanies radiation exposure. Even the livestock that grazed on irradiated grasses grown in contaminated soils developed meat with high concentrations of these unwanted toxins after Chernobyl, and Fukushima is exponentially worse.

Reports: 98% Of Pacific Seafloor Covered In Dead Sea Creatures 145 Miles Off The Coast Of California…

December 13, 2013
fukushima.jpg

(BIN) — This newly released story from ENENews is mindblowing and shares how quickly since the Fukushima disaster happened that our chain of life in the seas is dying. This information is taken from both National Geographic and the National Academy of Sciences and shares that as of July 1st of 2012, 98% of the studied sea floor 145 miles off the coast of California was covered with dead and decomposing sea creatures. For those who think that 98% is probably a normal study number, only a few months earlier, the same study found less than 1% of the sea floor covered with ‘detritus’.Several up to date video reports below as well including one from kevin blanch who shares that squid are now washing ashore on Santa Cruz beaches as well as well as one from MsMilkytheclown1 who shares more about the deadly quality of the radiation we are now getting from Fukushima..:

National Geographic, Nov. 22, 2013: […] “In the 24 years of this study, the past 2 years have been the biggest amounts of this detritus by far,”  said study leader Christine Huffard, a marine biologist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in California. […] In March 2012, less than one percent of the seafloor beneath Station M [located 145 miles west of the coast of California between Santa Barbara and Monterey] was covered in dead sea salps. By July 1, more than 98 percent of it was covered in the decomposing organisms, according to the study, published this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. […]  Although climate change is a leading contender for explaining the major increases in 2011 and 2012, Huffard says that these spikes could be part of a longer-term trend that scientists haven’t yet observed. She hopes to continue gathering data from Station M to try and figure it out.

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Nov. 11, 2013 (emphasis added): […] Two major peaks in POC [particulate organic carbon] flux occurred over the last 18 mo of the time series […] The peak POC flux in spring/summer 2011 was the highest recorded over the 24-y time series (Fig. 1D)  […] The daily presence of detrital aggregates on the sea floor did not exceed 15% coverage over the period from 1990 to 2007. The highest sea-floor coverage by detrital aggregates measured throughout the 24-y time series occurred between March and August 2012, when salp detritus ranged from <1% cover in early March to a high of 98% cover on 1 July (Fig. 1E)

Indigenous Elders from North and South America unite and send a **CALL TO ACTION**

In late September, the Indigenous Elders and Medicine People of North and South America united for four days in sacred ceremony.

The significance of this meeting is profound for it is the embodiment of the prophecies of the Condor (South America)  and the Eagle (North America). It was said that for 500 years the Condor would rule, then for 500 years the Eagle would rule and then for the next 500 years the Condor and Eagle would fly together and activate a new level of consciousness for humanity.

They have issued forth a powerful statement which will be read by Chief Arvol Looking Horse and his wife at the UN next week. They are calling for the global community to spiritually awaken and come together to address the imminent crisis in Fukushima which should be handled by the global community since the continuity of all life is at stake.

Although their statement illuminates the nuclear crisis at Fukushima, their message is for humanity to spiritually awaken.

The foundation for peace will be strengthened  by restoring the Original Instructions in ourselves
“Prophecies have been shared and sacred instructions were given. We, the People of the Earth, were instructed that the original wisdom must be shared again when imbalance and disharmony are upon Mother Earth.
“In 1994 the sacred white buffalo, the giver of the sacred pipe, returned to the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota people bringing forth the sacred message that the winds of change are here. Since that time many more messengers in the form of white animals have come, telling us to wake up my children. It is time. So listen for the sacred instruction.
All Life is sacred. We come into Life as sacred beings. When we abuse the sacredness of Life we affect all Creation

This is a wake up call as the delicate balance of our planet is being struck by cumulative and compounding devastation. The Elders say:

The Fukushima nuclear crisis alone is a threat to the future of humanity. Yet, our concern goes far beyond this single threat…”
We only have to look at our own bodies to recognize the sacred purpose of water on Mother Earth. We respect and honor our spiritual relationship with the lifeblood of Mother Earth. One does not sell or contaminate their mother’s blood. These capitalistic actions must stop and we must recover our sacred relationship with the Spirit of Water”

>>> Please read entire Council Statement here and add your name in support. Please share far and wide and let our collective call to action be heard!

Like the Elders say, it is time to come “together with good minds and prayer as a global community of all faiths.”  Let’s hold the highest prayers and best possible outcome for all of humanity and the continuity of all of Life.

Blessings to us all~~~

COUNCIL STATEMENT

This statement reflects the wisdom of the Spiritual People of the Earth, of North and South America, working in unity to restore peace, harmony and balance for our collective future and for all living beings. This statement is written in black and white with a foreign language that is not our own and does not convey the full depth of our concerns.

The Creator created the People of the Earth into the Land at the beginning of Creation and gave us a way of life. This way of life has been passed down generation-to-generation since the beginning. We have not honored this way of life through our own actions and we must live these original instructions in order to restore universal balance and harmony. We are a part of Creation; thus, if we break the Laws of Creation, we destroy ourselves.

We, the Original Caretakers of Mother Earth, have no choice but to follow and uphold the Original Instructions, which sustains the continuity of Life. We recognize our umbilical connection to Mother Earth and understand that she is the source of life, not a resource to be exploited. We speak on behalf of all Creation today, to communicate an urgent message that man has gone too far, placing us in the state of survival. We warned that one day you would not be able to control what you have created. That day is here. Not heeding warnings from both Nature and the People of the Earth keeps us on the path of self destruction. This self destructive path has led to the Fukushima nuclear crisis, Gulf oil spill, tar sands devastation, pipeline failures, impacts of carbon dioxide emissions and the destruction of ground water through hydraulic fracking, just to name a few. In addition, these activities and development continue to cause the deterioration and destruction of sacred places and sacred waters that are vital for Life.

Powerful technologies are out of control

and are threatening the future of all life

The Fukushima nuclear crisis alone is a threat to the future of humanity. Yet, our concern goes far beyond this single threat. Our concern is with the cumulative and compounding devastation that is being wrought by the actions of human beings around the world. It is the combination of resource extraction, genetically modified organisms, moral failures, pollution, introduction of invasive species and much much more that are threatening the future of life on Earth. The compounding of bad decisions and their corresponding actions are extremely short-sighted. They do not consider the future generations and they do not respect or honor the Creator’s Natural Law. We strongly urge for the governmental authorities to respond with an open invitation to work and consult with us to solve the world’s problems, without war. We must stop waging war against Mother Earth, and ourselves.

We acknowledge that all of these devastating actions originated in human beings who are living without regard for the Earth as the source of life. They have strayed from the Original Instructions by casting aside the Creator’s Natural Law. It is now critical for humanity to acknowledge that we have created a path to self destruction. We must restore the Original Instructions in our lives to halt this devastation.

The sanctity of the Original Instructions has been violated. As a result, the Spiritual People of the Earth were called ceremonially to come together at the home of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe Bundle. These Spiritual Leaders and those that carry great responsibility for their people from both North and South America came together with the sacred fire for four days at the end of September 2013 to fulfill their sacred responsibilities. During this time it was revealed that the spirit of destruction gained its’ strength by our spiritually disconnected actions. We are all responsible in varying degrees for calling forth this spirit of destruction, thus we are all bound to begin restoring what we have damaged by helping one another recover our sacred responsibility to the Earth. We, the Original Caretakers of Mother Earth, offer our spiritual insight, wisdom and vision to the global community to help guide the actions needed to overcome the current threats to all life.

We only have to look at our own bodies to recognize the sacred purpose of water on Mother Earth. We respect and honor our spiritual relationship with the lifeblood of Mother Earth. One does not sell or contaminate their mother’s blood. These capitalistic actions must stop and we must recover our sacred relationship with the Spirit of Water

The People of the Earth understand that the Fukushima nuclear crisis continues to threaten the future of all life. We understand the full implications of this crisis even with the suppression of information and the filtering of truth by the corporate owned media and Nation States. We strongly urge the media, corporations and Nation States to acknowledge and convey the true facts that threaten us, so that the international community may work together to resolve this crisis, based on the foundation of Truth.

We urge the international community, government of Japan and TEPCO to unify efforts to stabilize and re-mediate the nuclear threat posed at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. To ensure that the Japanese government and TEPCO are supported with qualified personnel and information, we urge the inclusion of today’s nuclear experts from around the world to collaborate, advise and provide technical assistance to prevent further radioactive contamination or worse, a nuclear explosion that may have apocalyptic consequences.

The foundation for peace will be strengthened

by restoring the Original Instructions in ourselves

Prophecies have been shared and sacred instructions were given. We, the People of the Earth, were instructed that the original wisdom must be shared again when imbalance and disharmony are upon Mother Earth. In 1994 the sacred white buffalo, the giver of the sacred pipe, returned to the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota people bringing forth the sacred message that the winds of change are here. Since that time many more messengers in the form of white animals have come, telling us to wake up my children. It is time. So listen for the sacred instruction.

All Life is sacred. We come into Life as sacred beings. When we abuse the sacredness of Life we affect all Creation

We urge all Nations and human beings around the world to work with us, the Original Caretakers of Mother Earth, to restore the Original Instructions and uphold the Creator’s Natural Law as a foundation for all decision making, from this point forward. Our collective future as human beings is in our hands, we must address the Fukushima nuclear crisis and all actions that may violate the Creator’s Natural Law. We have reached the crossroads of life and the end of our existence. We will avert this potentially catastrophic nuclear disaster by coming together with good minds and prayer as a global community of all faiths.

We are the People of the Earth united under the Creator’s Law with a sacred covenant to protect and a responsibility to extend Life for all future generations. We are expressing deep concern for our shared future and urge everyone to awaken spiritually. We must work in unity to help Mother Earth heal so that she can bring back balance and harmony for all her children.

Fukushima: Life with Horses in Evacuation zone

“Soma Nomaoi(Soma wild horse chase)” that has been designated as a significant intangible folk cultural asset was held on 27 to 29 July in Minami Soma city which is located 40 km away from Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. There is still evacuation zone in a part of this city. More than 400 horses with people costumed samurai paraded streets and did horse racing. It was originally for training samurai, and it has been handed down for over 1000 years. After the nuclear accident, Nomaoi has been reported on medeia as a symbol of recovery from the disaster. This year more than 160,000 people came to this festival to see the cultural event and to support Fukushima. But recovery in Fukushima has lots of contradiction. Nuclear plant is not under the control and people who are living in contaminated area is still trying decontamination. The problem is still there.
The word “Restoration of Fukushima” has overflown in Japan, but problems are not solved and talking about radiation is a kind of taboo. This photo story focuses on a farmer who provides horses to “Soma Nomaoi.” He is living in an evacuation area.
What does “Recovery” mean to people who are living in Fukushima?
Iitate village with its 6,500 residents was a municipality located about 40km away from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant. After the nuclear disester, this village is designated as an evacuation zone, and nobody canʼt get permission to live there due to high contamination.
Hosokawa farm is one of the biggest farms in Iitate village and has been run for more than 100 years. Tokue Hosokawa is the third generation of this farm. He and his daughter Miwa aged 27 train horses to provided them all over Japan for TV commercial, drama, cinema and some festivals which need horses.
A month after the accident, Fukushima prefecture decided to cull domestic animals which were living in the evacuation zone. Animals remained there were not fed. Some became wild and some died of hunger. The reason to cull horses was “hygiene management”.
However, Hosokawa continued to feed his horses going from the place he refuged after the accident. And he fed them so as not to let the prefecture kill his horses. He had about 130 horses in his farm before the accident. And 86 horses evacuated to another place.
About 30 horses have remained in Hosokawa farm because he could’t find a place for them to refuge. He has been continuing to feed them. He and his daughter also helped 752 horses and caws to move from an evacuation zone to a safe place using 2 trucks just after the accident. According to Kyodo news, more than 1300 caws were culled until December 2012.
From the beginning of 2013, 16 horses including foals died in succession for 6 months in Fosokawa Farm. Experts performed an autopsy on a dead body, but they couldn’t find a main cause of their sudden death. Health center of Fukushima took their blood test and inspection, and the result showed that the causes were not infectious desease and parasitic warm. Symptoms were very similar. Once they became unable to walk, they died between several weeks.
This May, he tried to reveal the cause of their sudden death, and he decided to euthanize a horse whose symptom was similar to the other dead horses. And femoral muscle was detected cesium 200 becquerel/ kg by the researcher veterinarian Dr.Hiroyuki Ichikawa. They are studying this data tying to find the effect for their sudden death.
“I could live here thanks to my horses, so I can’t leave here without them. I have lived with horses since I was a child. So horses are my family. I can accept culling, if these horses have infectious desease. But they are fine. This is totally unacceptable. One day, I helped a cow which was pregnant. After evacuating from theMzaoyne2,0a13. calf was born. Unfortunately, his mother died of hunger. But this calf is still alive in another prefecture. I was very happy to help her baby,” he said.
Their most proudly work is to provide horses to intangible cultural asset named “SOMA NOMAOI(Soma wild horse chase)”. He provided about 60 horses to this event before the accident. But this year he provided about 20 horses. He provide horses that is from the other farm. Mainly these horses were trained by Hosokawa once. He couldn’t provide horses from own farm in iitate this year. However some horses that training was not enought were trained in Hosokawa farm.
“There is no future in this village. Only my house that light is going up in the night. Newspaper and mail doesn’t carry to my post. No restaurants and no shops… No people dosen’t come to my house. Only raccoon dog and fox comes to my house. Japan becomes such a pathetic country. After the accidents, my family fell apart. My daughter tried to commit suicide… I am relieved that she survived.
When I saw the foals,I entertained a flicker of hope. but even these foals died… There is no future. Nobody want to live without future. Here is Japan. Do you think it is really okay with this situation in Japan?” He said.
His daughter has a tattoo on her feet to remind herself of her decision to quit her job and go back to her father’s farm. It read “Hosokawa Farm.” “You can know I am Miwa of Hosokawa Farm, wherever I die.” she said.

Arc Angles and Arc Angels – Arc-hitecture for Healing Earth (Pyramid Power)

This is a great example why I don’t “fear” what’s going on with Fukushima in regards to it being an “unsolvable” crisis. Technology exists to neutralize radiation, the problem is it’s being suppressed because the cabal wants to keep people in fear, continue with the depopulation agenda and lower the Earths vibrational level to enough keep the womb chakras from opening. Fortunately their days are numbered and it’s only a matter of time before they’re eliminated from the world stage. Then the clean-up begins…on many levels.

WTF? What the Fukushima?! Dr. Patrick Flanagan

WFT? CNN broke the historic WHAT THE FUKUSHIMA? news today 8.31.13. We immediately began producing this video, where scientist Patrick Flanagan tells us that Fukushima is far worse than we’ve all been led to believe.

http://phisciences.com founder Patrick Flanagan says it’s even worse that CNN has reported, a horrific equivalent of radiation equal to 10 Hiroshima’s an hour 24/7 has been pumped into seas for since 3.11.13. That’s equal to about 8,700 Hiroshima’s.

Global Rads: Order vs Chaos // BP vs Fukushima 05.11.13

Things are getting very precarious with nuclear reactors, power plants in many locations are having some pretty strange problems…rats, goldfish being smuggled in, employees failing drug tests etc. etc. etc. IMO, if you live near a reactor it’s high time to get involved with your local anti-nuclear / environmental groups, or if there aren’t any local groups then YOU need start one by uniting your community to take action against nuclear power. Then connect with groups in other areas, do flashmob email campaigns, get creative!  Remember, the UCC filings have great tools to get their attention with ~ large groups throwing flaming arrows is always quite effective.

You can also research successful measures groups have used in the past, start by writing your Senators, Governor, Congressman, NRC and anyone else who’s politically or financially connected to the power industry. Just DO something to take your power, your environment and your health back from radioactive contamination. And don’t believe it can’t be done…

In 1979 we ~ The Sunbelt Alliance ~ prevented a power plant from being built outside Tulsa, OK; by showing up in great numbers, two summer’s in a row. Attorneys like Daniel Sheehan (Citizens Hearing on Disclosure, Karen Silkwood) worked on the case, we got the media involved and we raised enough hell until we won. Now, 35 years later community’s all over the nation have SERIOUS problems brewing with outdated plants that need to be decommissioned NOW.

Hello0oo, these power plants are designed and built to produce the materials needed for nuclear weapons. Now, isn’t it clever how they’ve got you footing the bill, every month the hard earned money you give to the electric company pays for bombs that kill, maime and destroy! Think about…

Global Radiation Update for United We Strike Radio Marathon
May 11th, 2013

From fires to mysterious radioactive goldfish, nuke plants in the US & Europe have had some bizarre problems in the past few weeks. So the NRC is putting together a panel to determine the events leading to the death of 2 goldfish at Perry NPP on Ohio, while Fukushima continues to contaminate and decimate the Pacific Ocean endlessly.

CNBC: Nuclear power has taken a beating — Engulfed by ‘cauldron of events‘ — Staggering change from just a few years ago — Not many had forecast it would “all go wrong at once”: http://enenews.com/cnbc-nuclear-power…

When BP happened, a drastic effort was undertaken by scientists to form 5 panels and come up with 5 different plans for sealing the well. Too bad no one thought to do this for Fukushima. Maybe they are waiting for the reactors to start sinking from 100’s of tons of groundwater being pumped out of the reactor basements every day, or reactor 4 to fall apart, or an unstoppable fission chain reaction event, or…something.

Or maybe the international community wants to be able to place the blame squarely on Japan and Japan only, when things really get bad. Problem is, it’s the whole world’s problem, not just Japans.

Mutated plants, fungus, dying trees (2013 edition).

Mutated cone flower in Alabama, April 2013

The tree damage seen last year has not abated. Mutated plants continue to appear as more low-level radiation streams over from Japan. From Dr. Satoshi Mori’s blog (poorly translated by Google):

Fertilization, reproductive plant one year cycle should have been done twice. Assuming the laws of Mendelian genetics is applied simply to morphogenesis of some species, after which drew strong radiation, such as I-131, Cs134, Cs137 immediately after the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant exploded The first year, mutations would have entered the DNA in the repair process by the DNA repair enzyme chromosome has been hit.

Mutated trillium in Oregon, April 2013

Mutant dandelion in Ohio, April 2013

However, it would not in only one of the two strands of DNA maybe. Recessive may not appear to be hidden dominant DNA because it is heterozygous at this stage yet. However, morphological malformations certain as recessive phenotype homo, maybe might come out from the second year. I already mentioned before that, such as dandelion huge leaves have been reported. So, malformation of vegetation would not begin to be observed this year from around soon. Do not forget that the chromosome is cut beaten by gamma rays of cesium constantly even at low doses subsequent course.

This is now the second full year of plant growth after Fukushima. Much of the genetic damage has happened in recessive genes, so many mutations will start to come out this year.

Damaged cedar in Fukushima prefecture

Widespread damage to trees and plants was noted last year (1-7) . This is partially due to Fukushima, but also due to ozone and volatile organic chemicals emitted from the Bayou Corne sinkhole and the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico (3 years ago today). This destruction is continuing.

The tree damage can be seen in Iceland, western Europe, Indonesia, Fiji, the Maldives, India, Canary Islands, Madagascar, and recently in Australia. But it seems to be the worst in the USA and Canada.

The growth of fungus and mold is promoted by radiation (8-12). What is happening is that Fuku, the oil spill and sinkhole emissions are weakening the trees. Fungi enter the weakened tree, encounter radioactive substances, and then grow like crazy.

A fungal meningitis outbreak of injectable drugs prepared at the New England Compounding Center has killed 53 people. Injectable products have been recalled from Med Prep Consulting, Biotest Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Pallimed Solutions Inc., and Hospira Inc., due to contamination with fungus.

Widespread problems with mold occurred after Hurricane Sandy. Mold is endemic. Some people have mushrooms growing on their carpets.

Fungi are now killing all the frogs and bats.

The government is now spraying fungus from helicopters (1:38) in order to “save trees.”

Stimulation of fruit and grain yields is also promoted by radiation, and we have seen bumper crops for some species. But when radiation is increased beyond the amount that stimulates, it shuts off the growth of fruit and grain. Increase it further, and it kills the plant, like in the Red Forest after Chernobyl. Some of the trees in the Red Forest won’t even decompose, because there is so much radiation that fungi and microoganisms can’t survive to do the decomposition.

My peach and pear tree went wild with fruit in 2011, but didn’t produce any in 2012. The peach tree now has its bark falling off, and is covered with fungus and lichen. But leaves have appeared now on about 25% of it… I had thought it was dead. My walnut tree went wild in 2012, and Vgirl’s plum tree went crazy with fruit last year also. It remains to be seen what kind of fruit we will see in 2013 from these trees.

NUKED IN THE SKIES: Kim Kardashian, Lil Wayne, Kelly Osbourne ~ IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION

Once again, Christina Consolo and guest Leuren Moret cover a VERY important health topic touching everyone’s life: Radiation fall-out from Fukushima. After two years of fall-out, serious exposure symptoms are beginning to appear in signs of declining health in many young celebrity’s, especially in the frequent flyers ~ including individuals in the general population who are racking up airline miles. Frequent flyers like celebrities, pilots, flight crews and business class are simply the canary’s in the coal mine, we’re all are constantly exposed to higher than normal levels of radiation in the general environment and in the food supply; which itself, has become thoroughly toxified with pesticides, gmo’s, fluoride and a growing list of preservatives.

For myself, two months after Fukushima began spewing radiation into the environment I relapsed into Hepatitis C after being in remission since 1998.  At the time I was outside most of the day doing landscaping and gardening work for an employer, as well as the property I live on. I spent a lot of time sitting on wet grass after the rains being exposed to radiation coming from the sky.  In addition, my home is located in the tropical rainforest and my windows are open all day so I’m also exposed to particulates in the air. There’s no indoor ventilation system so the windows need to stay open during the day or mildew will take over fast.

I’ve had a helluva time over the last two years recovering from the Hep C and am still dealing with liver issues today.  Recently I learned ALL of the teeth in my upper jaw and a few on the lower, are falling out due to “advanced” periodontal disease, when only two years ago there was no sign of deterioration or disease. Last week after a mammogram, they found a mass in my left breast so I have to go in for more testing. In addition, I’m losing bone density ~ which may be a symptom of menopause and can’t be directly tied to radiation exposure, even tho strontium is linked to bone deterioration. To top all that off, there’s something going on in my hip joints that needs further testing to see what’s going on.

Now, when all of this is happening to someone who lives a nutritionally healthy lifestyle, thinks positive and meditates daily, one can only imagine the health affects a radioactive environment is having on the youth, pregnant women, those with immune deficiencies, the elderly and the general population who aren’t educated on nutritional supplements or healthy diets. Recently I’ve talked with others who are having problems with teeth falling out and other health problems in normally healthy people.

Regarding the side effects of radiation, the medical community is either clueless or has been silenced into NOT addressing the issue of radiation from Fukushima. Whatever the case, they appear to be ambivalent of the radiation doses people are receiving and how it’s affecting our health. The problem isn’t in a lack of data on radiation, most of it’s affects were known as early as the 1920’s. But to be fair to the average doctor or nurse, the Rockefeller’s most likely omitted radiation education from the medical school curriculum, just as they have done with natural medicine and herbal treatment to cure disease.

The fact that Japan has been left on it’s own to deal with this nuclear nightmare in a highly incompetent, criminally negligent manner is a telling sign of the real agenda: indiscriminate depopulation.

There are many things you can do to fight radiation damage and help reduce the risk of health problems, readers sent in numerous recommendations that you can find in the right hand column under the category Radiation from Fukushima in the sub-category Remedies and Antidotes for Radiation Exposure.

Fukushima: Two Years Later

Note: For readers who aren’t aware of my personal history, I spent two years at 17 & 18 yrs old, known as “No-Nukes Annette” for my work as a nuclear activist with the Sunbelt Alliance in Oklahoma. Each summer was spent training an ave. 75 people in non-violent direction to occupy the site of a proposed nuclear power plant just outside of Tulsa in Inola. This was back in the late seventies when the nuclear power industry was beginning to gear-up power plant construction across the U.S., so it was a long, hard battle. I even had agents parked in a cheesy red van wire-tapping our phones, was under surveillance the entire time and had goons approach me on several occasions asking really stupid questions about my work with the alliance and my views on nuclear energy.
Fortunately we won our fight for citizens in Oklahoma, while the rest of the country slept thru the nuclear power plant invasion that swept over America and the world.  As a young woman, it was so disheartening to witness the cognitive dissonance emerging in all the aging hippies who taught me the importance of activism as a child growing up during the protests over the Vietnam war. At that point, it seemed if they could care less what was happening to the preservation of the country’s future.
By 1979 it was if everyone had all been seduced. hypnotized by incessant consumerism and lost on the treadmill of the rat-race. Yet, by the mid-eighties even I had given in to the seduction of the music business…my dreams of making the world a better place had faded into the noise.
Now, three decades later Fukushima revived my commitment to educate the public about the lies and criminal negligence on behalf of the NRC and world leaders who have ALL betrayed the trust of the people. They’ve allowed the destruction of the planet at the hands of corporations that only exist is to feed the greed of bankster billionaires, corporate thugs and politicians and to strip mine the resources of the planet till there is nothing but a barren wasteland left.
So PLEASE, if you haven’t already done so, will you join me in the fight to raise awareness on this diabolical and deadly agenda? If nothing else, because planetary destruction is the legacy we’re leaving the children…Mahalo! Much love, Annette

A Basic Primer
by JANETTE SHERMAN, MD

Over the last two years, questions arise as to whether the Fukushima nuclear disaster is worse than Chernobyl. Unless the principles of physics, chemistry and biology are cancelled, the effects that have been documented in the various populations exposed to the radioactive releases from Chernobyl will occur in those exposed to Fukushima releases. This is not new information – it has been known for decades.

Let us consider “Science 101.”

Physics

When uranium is split as in a reactor, or bomb, it releases great amounts of heat, and energy, as well as multiple radioactive decay products. Once released the process of decay cannot be stopped. It takes approximately 10 half-lives for an isotope to fully decay.  Given that the half-life of cesium is some 30 years, it will be three centuries before the levels return to normal.

Incineration of contaminated materials is occurring in Japan, but burning, whether in an incinerator or a forest fire spreads the pollution.  Isotopes in soil, water, food, plants or animals cannot be detected by sight, taste, or smell.  Radiation measuring devices can detect the alpha, beta and gamma emissions, but only if they are performed, and are useful only if the information is released to the public.

Chemistry

All elements, radioactive or not, belong to groups best shown in the Periodic Table of Elements.  Radioactive strontium belongs to the same chemical family as calcium, and like calcium becomes deposited in the bones and teeth of children as well as in animals, fish and birds.  Like potassium, radioactive cesium is deposited in muscle – of all animals – fish, birds, and humans, while radioactive iodine, is taken up by the thyroid gland, causing the greatest damage in unborn and young animals.  These chemicals damage as they release high-energy radiation that causes damage to the surrounding tissues, including mutations.

Biology

As radioactive isotopes re spread over land and water, they become deposited – but in a non-uniform manner, depending upon wind direction, weather, and elevation.
Life process in plants results in the up-take of radioactivity, which is released as plants die, or become dormant, and leaves fall to the ground, to seep into the soil to be take up again the next season.  In the interim, fruit, vegetables and grains eaten by livestock and people becomes contaminated.

As isotopes fall upon both fresh and seawater, they are absorbed by plankton, crustaceans, fish, mammals, etc., and spread throughout the food chain.

After Chernobyl, not all life systems were examined, but of those that were – wild and domestic animals, birds, insects, plants, fungi, fish, trees, and humans, all were damaged, many permanently. Thus what happens to animals and plants with short-term life spans is predictive of those with longer ones.

Moller and Mousseau have done field research in both Chernobyl and Fukushima.  They document adverse effects seen in organisms with short life spans such as birds, rodents and insects (which have completed as many as 25 generations) that is much worse than has been reported in humans (who are now entering their 3rd generation since Chernobyl.)

The uniqueness of Japan bears mention. Japan is a small country with a large, dense population.  The population density around the Fukushima nuclear plants is greater than around Chernobyl.  Now two years later, the Fukushima plants are still leaking.  Consider too, the area Fukushima area was/is a major crop producing area, and the level of radioactive cesium in vegetables, and fish continues to increase.

Janette D. Sherman, M. D. is the author of Life’s Delicate Balance: Causes and Prevention of Breast Cancer and Chemical Exposure and Disease, and is a specialist in internal medicine and toxicology. The never-ending saga of Fukushima also helped many of us become aware of a myriad of nuclear issues that have been going on (and covered-up) for decades. So in a way, we can “thank” Fukushima for that. We have come a long way in just 2 years 🙂

Dave Parrish calls in to talk about final ticket totals for the premiere of Christopher Noland’s “Surviving Japan” and his thoughts about the film. We also play a clip of Professor Cham Dallas.

And stay tuned at the end, as Kevin Allan takes a walk through his hometown asking people about radiation in the snow, the national debt, and other important issues…too bad most people avoided him like the plaque. Is it really any wonder we are in the shape we are in?

Radiant Wildlands: The forests near Fukushima and Chernobyl likely have been changed forever.

Late in the spring of 2011, the pale grass blue butterflies seemed no different. Flitting about the meadows of Fukushima Prefecture, their satin wings shimmered as they moved among the notched leaves of wood sorrel and feathery pampas grass. When Joji Otaki began looking closely at the delicate insects the size of a silver dollar, however, he was struck by abnormal patterns in the dark dots on their wings. Then he noticed dents in their eyes and strangely shaped wings and legs.

It was two months after the March 11, 2011 tsunami led to the meltdown of three reactors at Japan’s Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The cesium, plutonium, and other radioactive emissions had already forced the evacuation of more than 100,000 residents caught in the cloud of contamination from one of the worst environmental disasters in history. Otaki, a professor at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, was in the Abukuma Mountains west of the disaster site collecting butterflies to study their response to the accident. The explosion at the power plant had rained radioactive particles onto fields and forests the butterflies share with warblers and flycatchers, deer and bear in the rugged region north of Tokyo.

As Otaki and his research partners studied the Fukushima butterflies, the aberrations they found took them by surprise. Abnormalities in the first generation were within normal boundaries. But when Otaki bred these butterflies in his laboratory, mutations in the offspring increased to 18 percent. That suggested inherited genetic damage. Field samples collected in September 2011, representing the fourth or fifth generation of butterflies since the disaster, had even higher abnormality rates. The changes may not all have been caused by radiation; Otaki had previously found evidence that temperature can affect wing markings. But the deformities his team found in antennae, legs, and other body parts are truly unusual, says Hokkaido University entomologist Shin-ichi Akimoto, who is studying the impact of Fukushima fallout on aphids. The abnormalities are troubling not only because insects are commonly assumed to be more resistant to radiation than humans, but also because they suggest the Fukushima nuclear disaster may be changing individual species, even entire forests.

“There is no question that ecosystems as a whole are suffering,” Otaki says. “There has been a sudden, large change.”

How large and how long term are questions scientists are trying to answer as they study the effects of nuclear contamination on Fukushima’s forests. This is not the first landscape to provide such a grim opportunity. The worst nuclear accident in history occurred on April 26, 1986 when the Number 4 reactor at the VI Lenin Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded. More than two decades of research in this disaster-created outdoor laboratory, however, have failed to resolve many questions about radiation’s effects on wildlife.

Now, as scientists move about these evacuated, largely forested regions thousands of miles apart, some like Otaki are finding evidence that even low levels of radiation can cause genetic damage that is passed down to new generations. It’s a controversial conclusion with an even more hotly disputed interpretation: As plants and animals continue to live in these irradiated environments, forests themselves may be evolving into different ecosystems.

The prospect of a permanently altered ecosystem is even more disturbing because of the decades – perhaps centuries – these nuclear forests will remain dangerous. Still beautiful in spite of the contamination, they stare us in the face with the uncomfortable truth that when our human adventures in high technology go awry and crash through the natural world, we are utterly unable to control the consequences. Nuclear forests may be the ultimate Anthropocene environment.

Both the Chernobyl and Fukushima power plants were located in small cities surrounded by farms and woodlands. When the disasters struck, radioactive fallout hit trees, shrubs, and grasses. In Chernobyl as much as 70 percent of the radionuclides fell on forests. Over time rain and snow washed plutonium, radiocesium, and other radioactive particles onto the forest floor. Plants and fungi soon began taking up these particles and passing them on to the leaves, berries, and pollen that insects and other animals eat. Traveling the very same biological pathways that normally bring sustaining nutrients to forest life, the radionuclides permeated entire ecosystems.

In Fukushima, many plants and animals are already highly contaminated, according to government and independent tests. One wild boar captured in December 2012 had 11,000 becquerels of radiocesium per kilogram of flesh – more than 100 times the level permitted for human consumption. Last spring, researchers found herons nesting in an area where radioactive cesium in the soil measured more than 24,000 becquerels per kilogram. “We humans can do a lot to avoid exposure. Animals can’t. They don’t know it’s dangerous,” says Kiyomi Yokota, a naturalist who had devoted his life to exploring the forests of Fukushima.

Forever Is a Long Time

Even when nuclear power plants perform as designed, they present a problem: What to do with the radioactive wastes? Some types of spent fuel will be dangerous for 240,000 years, others for more than 2 million years. Taking responsibility for these contaminants stretches the proverbial seven generations of sustainability to 11,000 human generations – an inconceivable time span.

So far the nuclear industry has not come up with a safe solution. Engineers have considered a range of possibilities that verge on science fiction at one extreme and reckless abandon at the other. The industry has considered sending radioactive waste into outer space – an option it considers attractive because it removes it from our environment. The risks, however, are potentially catastrophic: If the vessel carrying the waste has an accident, it could spread radioactive material into the atmosphere. Then there’s the
Antarctica solution – placing radioactive wastes on ice sheets where their own heat would bury them. But international treaties ban such activity and the notion of violating the planet’s last pristine continent has put a damper on the scheme.

There have been discussions about burying nuclear waste in the sea floor. One option involves encasing spent fuel in concrete and dropping it in torpedoes designed to penetrate it into the ocean bed. Even more audacious is the proposal to deposit radioactive waste in a subduction zone, where plate tectonics would slowly carry it downward into Earth’s mantle. Violating international oceanic agreements is just one of the reasons these approaches are not being seriously considered. Another is the fear of leaks and the resultant widespread contamination.

The current focus is on burying radioactive wastes underground. Finland is in the process of constructing the first of these deep geological repositories – a 1,710-foot-deep facility called Onkalo, which means “cavity” in Finnish. Engineered to last 100,000 years, the facility is supposed to be large enough to accept boron steel canisters of spent fuel for up to 100 years, when the cavity will be backfilled and sealed. Canister burial will begin in 2020.

The United States has also been pursuing deep burial. In 2002 Congress designated Nevada’s Yucca Mountain as a repository for spent fuel and other radioactive wastes. By then planners had already constructed a five-mile-long tunnel and a series of cathedral-like chambers to experiment with various storage designs. The Obama administration quashed the controversial project in 2010, leaving the country without a long-term storage site. The 65,000 tons of spent nuclear fuel from the 104 nuclear power plants in the US are currently stored onsite – 80 percent in water-filled pools, which are considered less safe than the steel casks that store the remaining 20 percent.

In addition to the technical challenges, nuclear power presents a political dilemma. No nation has lasted for 1,000 years, much less the 240,000 years plutonium will remain dangerous. Who will oversee radioactive waste when the governments of the 31 countries now producing it have crumbled? And how will these toxic repositories be identified when current languages are obsolete and the metal warning signs have rusted away?

The nuclear power industry faces an uncertain future unless it can successfully address waste management, says Allison Macfarlane, chair of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The post-Fukushima world demands redefining a successful nuclear power program to include not only the safe production of electricity but also the secure and sustainable lifecycle of nuclear power – from uranium mining to the disposal of spent fuel. If this cannot be achieved, Macfarlane says, “then the public in many countries will reject nuclear as an energy choice.”

Even 27 years after Chernobyl’s No. 4 reactor explosion, much of the 1,000-square-mile “Zone of Alienation” around the power plant is considered far too hot to allow residents to return. As much as 96 percent of the radionuclides that did not blow sky high and spew across the Soviet Union and northern Europe are still right there – in the fungi, needles, branches, roots, and soil of the forests that now cover almost three-fourths of the evacuated area. Instead of releasing the radiation into the atmosphere and water systems, the Chernobyl forests are holding it, a landscape-scale model of phytoremediation. It may be decades more before it is safe for human habitation.

Ukrainian officials have enshrined this “barrier function” of the contaminated forest in law, mandating that these lands be managed to contain the radionuclides. Japan, meanwhile, is leaning toward very different policies that would attempt to remove some of the contaminants from forests by cutting down trees, scraping up forest litter, and burying or burning the debris. The enormity of that task, however, means that Fukushima’s forests will likely end up holding fallout for many years.

The upshot for plants and wildlife is prolonged exposure to nuclear contaminants, with impacts that begin in the microscopic world of individual cells. As radionuclides decay, they emit energy. That energy can damage any part of a cell. If it damages DNA, the result can be cancer. If the damaged DNA is in sperm or egg cells, the changes can be passed to offspring and cause inherited deformities or illnesses. More radiation means a higher chance that these changes will occur. Scientists agree that high levels of radiation can cause fatal damage to living organisms, including humans. The debate surrounding Chernobyl, and now Fukushima, is over the effects of extended exposure to low levels of radiation.

Some scientists have disputed the causal link between the mutations Otaki found in pale grass blue butterflies and the radiation they were exposed to, but the results do not surprise Timothy Mousseau, a research biologist at University of South Carolina. A decade of field work in Chernobyl, and more recently in Fukushima, have convinced him that protracted exposure to radiation can have severe genetic consequences for organisms living in these contaminated environments.

On an early October afternoon, Mousseau crouched on a crumbling sidewalk in the middle of the ghost city of Pripyat patiently extracting a marsh tit from a mist net, one tiny toe at a time. Above the scientist and his quarry, the cracked and peeling walls of apartment buildings rose to 10 stories, their deserted balconies sporting poplar saplings instead of deck chairs. The long-abandoned city was built by the Soviets to house the families of workers at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

Marsh tits are fairly tolerant of radiation, but other birds are not, Mousseau says. Since he and his colleagues began studying 14 different species of birds found in Chernobyl, they have documented reduced numbers and decreased longevity, smaller brains in some birds, and as many as 40 percent of male birds without sperm. They have also found that barn swallows living in areas surrounding Chernobyl have genetic damage that appears to be increasing with subsequent generations. Mutation rates in young swallows are between two to 10 times higher than their parents, according to one study. Chronic exposure to radioactive contaminants 27 years after the accident continues to cause tumors and mutations in breeding swallows, Mousseau says. He has found no evidence that species are evolving in ways that protect them from radiation.

Ominous as these results are, Mousseau does not predict an eventual science fiction world of three-eyed rabbits and headless horses. Instead, he believes irradiated forests will simply become less vibrant versions of their former selves. “The net effect will be fewer offspring and smaller populations until some species just disappear,” he says.

Like Otaki, Mousseau was initially surprised by his findings. He assumed that natural selection would weed out abnormal individuals as time passed. “The irony is that because the radiation levels are low and nonlethal, organisms survive long enough to reproduce and thus transmit the mutations from one generation to the next,” Mousseau says.

Other scientists have documented genetic changes in the cells of Scots pines, the dominant Chernobyl forest tree. Higher levels of exposure stunted growth and led to oddly bushy trees. Vasyl Yoschenko, head of radioecological monitoring at the Ukraine Institute of Agricultural Radiology, says that could benefit more radiation-tolerant species with significant forest-wide impacts: “If the Scots pine disappears, this will be a different ecosystem,” he says. Even one generation of weakened Scots pines would have cascading consequences. When pines produce less pollen, bees, butterflies, and other pollinators suffer. Reduced pollination affects fruit trees, which in turn affects birds. Few studies have tracked these chain reactions. “It’s not something you see quickly, and for that reason the research is difficult,” Otaki says. Mousseau is more direct about the potential impacts: “It’s very likely that these Chernobyl and Fukushima areas will be permanently affected unless we come up with some magical way to remove and eliminate the radioactive material.”

Many scientists reject these conclusions. Numerous laboratory and field studies around Chernobyl have failed to document elevated rates of mutations or reduced survival rates among animals in higher radiation zones. As proof, some researchers tout the abundance of mammals – moose, roe deer, otters, and wild boar proliferating in the evacuation zone despite the radiation. Removing humans from the landscape is an ecological benefit of the accident, says Robert Baker, a biology professor at Texas Tech University.

Baker’s research, first published in 1996, found no tumors in any of the 400 bank voles he studied from the Chernobyl region, despite radiation exposure of many generations during all stages of their life cycles. In a 2009 project with several colleagues, Baker found voles in radioactive sites genetically similar to those elsewhere in Ukraine. He says the results suggest that genetic changes in radioactive regions of Ukraine are probably a function of natural geographic variation.

Although Baker and Mousseau disagree about the effect of radiation on forest species, both have called for more research. The largest body of evidence on inherited mutations comes from multigenerational studies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bomb survivors. It is inconclusive: A higher incidence of inherited deformities and disease has been neither confirmed nor definitively disproven in the children of survivors. Field research in Chernobyl, which got a late start due to Soviet politics, remains much less systematic than the atom bomb studies. And so far only a handful of biologists have launched field studies in Fukushima. Otaki believes the reason for that is partly political. “People are trying to forget what happened,” he says. As a result, funding for research like his is hard to come by. Baker hopes that will change. “Perhaps the accident in Japan will serve to highlight again the undeniable fact that our scientific grasp of radiation risk to the environment is surprisingly limited,” he says.

Pale grass blue butterflies still flutter in the Fukushima countryside, unaware they may be flirting with danger. Barn swallows dart around the forests of Chernobyl oblivious of the contamination they are carrying. For the hundreds of thousands of people forced to leave their homes in Japan, Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, the radiation cycling from soil to treetop is an unnerving omnipresence. The forests they knew and depended upon now threaten instead of soothe, hiding unknowns where they once nurtured a community.

Kiyomi Yokota, the Fukushima naturalist, rarely takes his daughters to play in the woods as he did before the accident. The stress of making sure his three-year-old never touches the dirt or licks her fingers is simply too exhausting. “Just like that, everything changed,” he says. Amid the stress is a sadness fueled by the knowledge that the changes are human caused, that they are irrevocable, and that they will last long after those responsible for the nuclear accidents at Chernobyl and Fukushima have passed away.
